With so many needs in the world, how can we respond as a church?

I assume that many of you, like me, are being regularly contacted by organizations raising money for all kinds of needs, and knowing how generous our congregation is, you are responding as much as you can. Knowing this, we are intentional about worship being a time that is free from fundraising talk. When we talk about our budget, we try to focus on being informative and invitational, trusting that you know that a church functions totally on your donations. With other needs, we try to leverage the power we have together by giving 10% of our income away to local, national and international causes. Our prayer is that the congregation is a place that fuels generosity in all kinds of ways- time, prayers, and resources.

I also know that our congregation is not disconnected from the world, that there are families right in our congregation that have needs, too. If you have one, be it physical, financial, or spiritual/emotional, just let me know and we will figure out a way to navigate together. Giving and receiving are both parts of generosity. – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
