Why is Easter on a different day every year?

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring (vernal) equinox. The logic around it and how the decision was made is a little tangled- there was not one specific time to which everyone can point and say-‘There!’  That’s when they made the decision!’  Originally Easter was more connected to Passover, but occasionally it would be before the equinox.  There was also a time period when the pope would declare an Easter date every year. The earliest Easter can be is March 22 and the latest is April 25.  THIS year Easter is on April 20…so definitely on the later side.  Maybe we won’t need our parkas over our Easter finery this year!!
