This is a question that shows me that you notice a lot of things sitting in the pews! You also may start to notice things that seem like patterns, even when they may not be intentional ones. The liturgy and hymns are carefully planned. Some of the movements in worship are dictated by camera angles, or someone’s personal piety (like making the sign of the cross), and others are just people trying to figure it out. The answer to this question falls in that last category. There is absolutely no reason to circle in any particular direction – sometimes it just takes a second for us to figure out exactly where we need to be. Keep the questions coming!
