While it is true that polkas are not Swedish, every culture has dancing traditions that are similar to polkas…using folk instruments and upbeat tempos to make people feel like dancing. Setting the liturgy and hymns to polka tunes (and worshipping outdoors on Sunday), leans into the celebratory nature of Swedish days, which happens right outside our front doors. – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
