When God compares people to something inanimate, like clay, doesn’t that make our faith kind of passive?

I think about descriptions of famous artists talking about letting the hunk of marble or the colors of paint ‘speak’.  It seems that gifted artists are able to find the spirit within an object.   God as the gifted artist,  finds the Spirit within us.   Out at camp, free from electronics, we are sometimes able to glimpse the Spirit moving in new ways- it is enlivening, energizing, and humbling when it happens.   And it is definitely not passive.  – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
