The final Sunday before Ash Wednesday is when we celebrate Jesus’ transfiguration. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, Jesus and some of the disciples go up a mountain and there, Jesus is transfigured. His clothes become dazzling white and Moses and Elijah are chatting with Jesus. God powerfully proclaims from a cloud that Jesus is His beloved Son and people should listen to Jesus! John doesn’t include this episode but if we pay attention in the Gospel of John, we will find that Jesus is getting more and more clear about the authority He has from God.
