What is a simple definition of grace? Oxford Languages uses this as one of the definitions: (in Christian belief) the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.
This may or may not be helpful to you! It does feel a little bit too much like a box to me! I’m wondering if grace isn’t better described in a person…Jesus. He lived grace…feeding hungry people, healing sick people, welcoming people that others didn’t welcome, and calling out religious folks who were focused on the wrong things. What His ministry shows is that the important thing is to extend grace and not get too caught up in how it is received. This is not easy for us…we like to know outcomes and that we made a difference. Looks like living graciously will require that we hold ourselves with grace first.
