Our scripture for the week meets the people in exile…away from their homes, their place of worship and other community comforts. Jeremiah says, ‘Get to work to make it better- right where you are.’ To the degree that it is possible, this is what we can do when we are in a place that has us disoriented. Fertilize, water and decorate. Meet other people in the same place and encourage one another. Pray on your own and pray with others that you will be able to honor God through this moment and out of this place. Then pay attention…maybe you’ll look up and realize that you’ve built your community again. You’ve reoriented, grown and bloomed…right where you were planted. – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
