Jesus saves us from our own sinfulness. Let’s define sin as anything that turns us away from God, or that turns us in on ourselves. We aren’t always aware that we have turned away or turned in, but when we do, we become disconnected. To use an image from scripture, it is like being cut off from the vine. (John 15). This ultimately leads to a sort of death. Jesus comes along side and reconnects us to the vine. He shows us life on the other side of death and the cross becomes a symbol of life. – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
