Going through an ordinary day and then finding yourself in a doctor’s office with a mountain suddenly blocking your way forward. Assuming that because that thing or program has always been there…it will continue to be there, until it is not. Having confidence in people and systems that suddenly reveal themselves to be empty. In our Gospel for the week, Jesus brings healing and we assume that everyone wants this…except the people who are about to have their system revealed as broken. Jesus’ response is to double down on his mission…but not until he has gone to the mountain to pray, something Luke tells us Jesus did ‘during those days.’ Praying isn’t magic, it is to strengthen, give clarity, and align us with God’s work. – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
