Yes! Stephen is chosen to be part of a ministry to take care of the pressing needs of the early church… to make sure people had the tangible support they needed. This is what Stephen Ministers do! They walk with people one on one for as long as needed through transitions and losses. Too often (maybe even in the early church), this work is undervalued. Sometimes we unintentionally undervalue it by assuming it is not for us. Worship and Bible studies are great ways to learn and grow, but sometimes we need someone to walk with us one on one. If you are going through a transition, even one that is generally positive like an empty nest or retirement or have experienced a loss- job, death of a person close to you, end of a relationship, a Stephen Minister may be just the person you need to accompany you as you live into the fullness of Gospel hope.
