I struggle to celebrate and rejoice when a person who has hurt me says they have changed.  Do I really have to?

Well, here’s my sassy response, ‘Do you like to have fun and celebrate?’. With all the challenges of our collective lives, why would we not take every opportunity we have to celebrate change and growth and hope?! A more serious question is, ‘How am I served by keeping my wound/pain in the forefront of my life?’ We deserve to protect ourselves…to establish boundaries to keep the same person from hurting us over and over again. However, keeping wounds open usually ends up hurting us and keeps us from action that brings healing. Try this: acknowledge the pain you have felt and how much space it can take in your mind. Imagine letting it go and having that space free. That was only practice…really letting go is going to take practice and energy and sometimes you’ll fall back. But God is leading you to the open door where there is music and dancing! – Pastor Trudy Stoffel
