Weddings, Baptisms, and Funerals

Baptisms, weddings, and funerals… It may feel strange to have these three things listed together; and yet they are all celebrations of what it means to live a life in the body of Christ.  We are all connected by our need for God’s peace at times of transition- birth of a child, wedding, or as we say farewell.

Baptisms
Baptism is an opportunity for our congregation to celebrate God’s love and grace. Lutherans do baptize infants (and older children and adults), believing that it is God’s action and love pouring over us rather than our own efforts. You do not need to be a member to celebrate a baptism at Geneva Lutheran. Baptism is a sacrament and all baptisms are held within a worship service of the congregation as we promise to support and encourage all of the baptized, their parents, and sponsors in their lives of faith.

Weddings
What a joy it is to celebrate with couples as they are joined in marriage! We consider this an important part of our ministry to   the community, so couples do not need to be members to be married here, however all weddings are conducted by our pastor.

Funerals

As Christians, we trust the words of comfort in the Bible and in the service for Christian burial to comfort us at times of loss.  Working with Pastor Trudy, families and friends will prepare a service that honors all of who someone is and was to us.  You do not need to be a member for our congregation to walk with you in your time of need.

Please contact Pastor Trudy for more information about weddings, baptisms, or funerals; pastor@genevalutheran.org
